Tiger sharks are large, solitary, primarily nocturnal predators that can reach over 5 meters long. They have a wide range of prey, including crustaceans, fish, seals, birds, squid, turtles, sea snakes, dolphins, and other sharks. In 1978, I was part of an ABC Natural History Film Unit team filming for a series of films. Our focus was on Dr. Col Limpus's scientific achievements on marine turtles, with Raine Island being the primary feature of one of the six films. On my first diving day, a large tiger shark appeared, heading straight for me. The next day, the ABC cameraman captured footage of a big shark biting an adult turtle in half in a single bite!
