The Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve covers 55 hectares and showcases subtropical rainforest with a view of the Glass House Mountains National Landscape. It is a remaining part of the once extensive rainforests of the Blackall Range, highlighting a variety of plant and animal life. One notable plant species in the reserve is the Ficus watkinsiana, also known as strangler fig or green-leaved Moreton Bay fig, native to Australia and found in three populations. Living close by, I have carefully examined all the figs along the walking track, and this one is my favorite.
