The stunning Jim Jim Falls in Kakadu National Park, Australia, drops dramatically from an elevation of 259 meters (850 feet) into a plunge pool. The name "Jim Jim Falls" comes from the local Kundjeyhmi word "andjimdjim," and in the neighboring Kunwinjku language, it is known as "mandjimdjim." The geological history reveals that much of Kakadu was submerged under a shallow sea around 140 million years ago. The escarpment rises to 330 meters (1,080 feet) above the plains, showcasing the ancient and dynamic landscape of Kakadu.
