Chelmonops truncatus, also known as the Eastern Talma or Truncate Coralfish, is a type of butterflyfish found in southeastern Australia. This fish is special to me because it appeared on the cover of my book "Australia's Ocean Of Life". They live along rocky walls in coastal bays, estuaries, and deeper waters. Adult fish are usually found in pairs, while juveniles are often solitary and feed on small crustaceans, worms, and filamentous algae. The beautiful background is made up of the common Jewel Anemone, which lives on rocks and coastal structures such as piers in shaded, wave-exposed areas in cooler temperate waters.
