The Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve in the Northern Territory is known for its scenic sandstone bluffs and cliffs. These freestanding cliffs are part of the James Range and are especially beautiful in the early morning and late afternoon when the rock's rainbow-like bands are highlighted. If you are lucky enough to arrive after heavy rain, when water lies in the claypans near the bluffs, you will obtain remarkable images that include reflections. Rainbow Valley is a living cultural landscape and is the traditional country of the Upper Southern Arrernte Aboriginal people. The Traditional Owners refer to this place as Wurre, part of Imarnte, the country they belong to.
