The main features of the Rainbow Valley are the scenic sandstone bluffs and cliffs. These freestanding cliffs form part of the James Range and are particularly attractive in the golden glow of late afternoon when the rainbow-like bands in the rock are highlighted. If you are lucky enough to arrive after rain during flowering, you will find fields of pouched-egg daisies. Rainbow Valley is a living cultural landscape, the traditional country of the Upper Southern Arrernte Aboriginal people. The Traditional Owners know this place as Wurre, part of Imarnte, the country they belong to.
