A matter of days after taking this original photograph, the Tasmanian Dunally region 2013 experienced one of Tasmania's most devasting bushfires. Locals suffered significant losses and emotional stress. Having experienced major loss due to floods, I followed Eckhardt Tolle's philosophy: "You can lose something you have, but never something you are." With this mindset, I could pick myself up and engage with life again with renewed vigour. Change can be intimidating initially, but another stairway always leads to another episode in life's adventure. Most humans face the challenge of loss and recovery at some point. However, having a life purpose bigger than oneself can make navigating life's challenges more manageable.
