The Bare-nosed wombat inhabits heathlands and woodlands throughout southeastern Australia. These generally shy, nocturnal animals live in warrens and are adept at digging. They breed every two years, producing a single joey carried in a backwards-facing pouch—perfect for their digging lifestyle.
