I once had the unique opportunity to work with children who were initially apprehensive about the Australian bush at night. As we explored the night sounds, I saw their fears gradually giving way to curiosity and wonder. They were captivated by the territorial grunts of an old male koala, the bickering of possums, the mating calls of frogs in a pond, and especially the whooping and hooting of owls and the soft, deep, continuous 'ooo-ooo-oo' sounds of Tawny Frogmouths.
