King Brown Snake WL227388

The king brown snake (Pseudechis australis) is Australia's most widely distributed snake and is also commonly known as the mulga snake. Both names are misleading, as the king brown snake not only inhabits more diverse ecosystems than mulga woodlands but is also not a brown snake! This highly venomous snake belongs to the Pseudechis genus of black snakes—an important distinction because black snake antivenom would need to be administered in case of a bite from this species.
