Watching and Waiting BI0106
The laughing kookaburra's call is one of the most famous birdcalls in Australia and a defining sound of the Australian bush. Males from neighbouring groups typically call at dawn and dusk to advertise their territories. They often compete by calling from separate branches of the same tree or flying past each other to settle disputes. My studio is near adjoining territories, so we frequently hear these 'laughing' calls. Here. in the stillness of first light, a laughing kookaburra does what they do best, they watch and wait for an opportunity.
