River Red Gums TR01033
Ormiston Creek is a significant region in Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park, which starts its journey in Ormiston Pound, flows through Ormiston Gorge, and ultimately joins the Fink River. It is a stunning natural landscape of Australia and holds deep cultural value for its traditional owners, the Arrernte people.
As a creative, I have long been inspired by this area, known as Kwartatuma. It features stunning ranges, gorges, and creeks lined with River Red Gums, Eucalyptus camaldulensis. Aboriginal groups, including Alyawarr, Anmatyerr, and Eastern Arrernte, highly value these iconic Australian trees for their medicinal and cultural uses.
