Renowned for their beauty and as a magnet for various nectar-feeding birds such as lorikeets and honeyeaters, these vibrant, flowering shrubs are a staple in my bush garden, as they are for many Australians.
With a rich cultural significance, Grevilleas, with their 360 species in the family Proteaceae, are predominantly unique to Australia, with only three species found in New Guinea. They can be found in most habitats, except alpine areas, swamps, or saline soils. It's a testament to their importance that Aboriginal people have affectionately dubbed them 'bush lollies'.
