Amorous Intentions II BI132296
When courting, the male Rose-crowned fruit dove will approach a female with a graceful and purposeful gait. As he gets closer, he bows repeatedly, lowering his head and puffing out his chest to appear more prominent. This bowing is often accompanied by a soft cooing sound, a gentle vocalisation that catches the female’s attention. Here in this artwork, a male dove puffs up his chest and neck feathers, making himself look more extensive and impressive. The closer she gets, the cooing sound becomes more pronounced, resonating with a rhythmic cadence that may vary in intensity.
