Mulga country is an arid region located in the heart of Australia. It is characterized by red land and home to plants and animals that can survive with low rainfall and high temperatures. Mulga scrublands are found within the 250mm per annum rainfall belt, and the nutrient-deficient soils can extend up to 400mm of rainfall under tropical influences. The landforms are diverse and usually reddish in colour, with tall shrubs that cast a minimal shadow. Mulga plants are well-adapted to the harsh environment of inland Australia and cover a vast area composed of different soil types, landforms, nutrient levels, and available water, changing the species' mix.
