Rivers, lakes, floodplains - anywhere there is water, the Australian pelican, a much-loved bird, is likely to be present, sometimes in large numbers. Through the image of the pelican passing from the light into the darkness and then paddling its way further into the light, I see a metaphor for the passage of human life. It reminds me that when the 'flow' of life is interrupted, all I need to do is stay strong and find a pathway back into the light again.
