Anthias belong to the family Serranidae and form the subfamily Anthiinae. Anthias form schools and have complex social structures. They can be found in all tropical oceans and seas, uniting marine enthusiasts worldwide. The dominant male forms a harem with multiple females and may be replaced by the most prominent female if it dies.
