This tenacious wind-blown Tea tree grows almost horizontally to the ground along the cliff tops at Remarkable Rocks Flinders Chase National Park, Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Here, it has sent its roots on a horizontal journey for survival. Certainly! This serves as a wonderful metaphor for life's journey. It reminds me that while humans crave certainty, true certainty doesn't doesn't exist; it is an illusion. An inherent desire to remain open to life challenges by embracing change enables all living things, even a moderate chance of survival. When considering the human condition, I believe that lack of certainty is a major cause of depression. Yet conversely, adversity can also be a potent driver of positive action. It brings to mind that wonderful quote by Eckhart Tolle, "You can lose something you have, however you cannot lose something you are."
