Sturt’s Desert Peas are famous for their distinctive blood-red leaf-like flowers, each with a bulbous black centre, or “boss”. It is one of Australia’s best-known wildflowers and is the floral emblem for the state of South Australia. These stunning flowers can be found carpeting great swathes of the ground, presenting a stunning sight. It is native to the arid regions of central and north-western Australia, and its range extends into all mainland Australian states except Victoria.
