Crinoids are a type of marine invertebrate with feathery arms used to collect plankton. They can be found in shallow and deep waters and are part of the Echinoderm family. The name "Crinoidea" comes from the Greek word κρίνον meaning "a lily". Although there are approximately 700 living species of crinoids, they were much more abundant and diverse in the past. These beautiful creatures exhibit a range of colours and patterns on their arms, creating a stunning sight as they sway in ocean currents.
