Rainforest is one of the planet's most endangered wild places and one of its most diverse and exceedingly beautiful. These fantastic green places are both an inspiration heartland and a major photographic challenge. I have spent years revelling in that challenge of capturing not just their beauty but also the way I feel about them. Reaching for light drives all forests, so this has been a primary objective in many creative interpretations. In this case, I also wanted to emphasise the twists and turns of a grand old fig tree perpetually on a journey towards the sun: tropical fig, Daintree World Heritage National Park, Queensland.
