The most photographed Australian urban icons are the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. The Sydney Opera House, designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, was formally opened on 20 October 1973. The Sydney Harbour Bridge was designed and built by British firm Dorman Long and Co Ltd of Middlesbrough and opened in 1932.
