Magnetic termite mounds are a predominate feature of the grassy plains of Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park, Cape York Queensland. The mounds are favoured by birds of prey as low vantage points for roosting and the grasslands are popular with flocks of brolgas both as insect feasting sites and safe night-time roosting areas.
